My Visit To Spa Utopia

Located on the cruise ship level of the Pan Pacific is Vancouver’s own Spa Utopia.

Spa Utopia

Over the years the spa has been a favourite health resort to many of its clients, earning the Georgia Straight 2009 Award for Best Spa Chain.

This afternoon, I got a chance to get a tour of the spa and to sit down over coffee with some of the staff.

As I was shown around, I discovered the spa had several relaxation lounges, treatment rooms and luxury suites for its clients. I was surprised by the sheer size of the facility, as well as the number of services offered to locals and guests of the hotel.

With towering pillars and cascading waterfalls, the spa felt a bit like Ancient Rome. I found many of the guests relaxing in the lounge areas either enjoying a glass of champagne or a few snacks from the Cafe Pacifica Restaurant.

After lunch, I chatted with Beverly Loewen, General Manager of the Spa Utopia.

On what makes this spa special:

We are really excited to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the spa here in the Pan Pacific Vancouver. Each year the spa continues to re-invent itself and keep up its reputation as the best spa in the city.

Over the years we have really developed a loyal client base and believe this is because we put our clients first. Whether this means tailor fitting a treatment to their specific needs or doing the little extra things to make them feel happy and at home, we will do it.

On massage therapy and dealing with injuries:

One of the services we offer is the Designed for U Massage. One of our massage therapists will work with you to design a therapeutic massage session for conditions such as a recent work injury, muscular tension, pain from a motor vehicle accident or trouble falling asleep. The therapist will take your personal needs into consideration and customize the treatment based on your specific body. Perhaps you may have an injured area that may require more attention or is to be avoided; so really it’s all up to you.

On what clients find most surprising:

Our clients are always impressed as to the distance we go to make them happy and comfortable, but the one thing that often surprises people is the number of men who come to the spa. I would say probably 30-40% of our clients are males. We even have kids who come down to the spa for treatments as well, so there is really something for everyone.

Now in its 5th year of operation, the Spa Utopia is considered a premier health resort in the Downtown Vancouver area. Every month you can find new specials and packages for both singles and couples.

Both guests of the hotel and locals are welcome to the Spa Utopia Vancouver.

    Hey Rishad,

Great article on the blog today – great photos too! We’ll post it on our blog, FB and retweet it. – btw, hair salon at the spa opens next week!

Thanks for the review, Rishad. It was a pleasure to have you that day.

I was in the hydrotherapy room – which, by the way, we’re doing a FANTASTIC West Coast set of treatments. All of the elements of hydrotherapy from bioregional sources! Check it out.

I’m currently putting together a Massage Course for Couples, which we hope will be launched by Christmas. Keep your eyes peeled!

    Come back soon,
    Glenn
