The 2010 World Cup from around Vancouver

With the FIFA 2010 World Cup now in its quarter final round, the excitement level of the games is at a high.

Even though some of the best teams in the tournament have seen an early exit, (sorry Italy and France fans) more and more Vancouverites are out watching the action at their favourite pubs and local hangouts.

All around the city there are some great places to meet with friends and take in the footy’.

A few favourites include:

Café Roma (1510 Commercial Drive): Arguably the most authentic experience to take in World Cup soccer on Commercial Drive.  This traditional Italian Cafe is seen as “the” place to watch all the World Cup action.

Forum Sports Bar (1163 Granville Street): A great atmosphere to watch the games on Granville Street, in the heart of Downtown.  The new Forum has fifteen 58″ HD flat screens and four 110″ projectors.  For the duration of the World Cup, the bar is open daily at 6:30am, with a $10 buffet breakfast served between 7:00AM – 10AM.

For Forum’s complete schedule of games, click here.

Shark Club (180 West Georgia Street): Your favourite place to watch hockey is also one of the better spots to watch this month’s soccer action.  Sharks Downtown is always packed, and usually shows a few different games at a time.  Shark’s is open for breakfast at 7am and stays open late.

Before signing off, I’ll leave you with a few spirited photos of Vancouverites taking in the Games.  If you have any good shots, send them in to tips@roomwithaviewblog.com and I’ll feature them at the end of the World Cup.

    Hey Lucas,

My sincere apologies for using your photos and I do understand your concern.

When I made the post on the World Cup, I figured it was non-profit related – as I was describing some of my favorite photos and bars that were popular.

Regardless, I removed your photos. I apologize again and will make sure not to use any of your great photos in future posts.

    Cheers,

    Rishad
